Memberships are available for all City of Idaho Falls residents.
People living outside Idaho Falls city limits may purchase a Library membership, which includes a library card as well as the ability to attend regular library programs with no additional cost, for $120.00 per year.
Payments can be made in $10 monthly payments or paid in full. This fee is due upon signing up for a membership and the renewal charge will be added to the account each year thereafter. This membership fee covers everyone in the household.
To get a Library Membership:
Visit the Staff Desk on the 2nd floor of the Library to get your own Idaho Falls Public Library membership. You will need to provide either:
- A current Idaho-issued driver’s license or Idaho state ID card with a current City of Idaho Falls address, OR
- A current Idaho driver’s license or Idaho state ID card AND proof of residency in Idaho Falls.
- For a children’s membership (under 18), both the child(ren) and the parent or legal guardian must be present.
Don’t have an Idaho Driver’s License?
With a driver’s license or ID card from another state AND proof of residency in the Idaho Falls city limits, you can apply for a Temporary Membership.
This will allow you to have two items checked out at a time. Your account will expire in three months and you must have an Idaho driver’s license of ID card to renew it.
For proof of residency, please present one of the following:
- A current utility bill with address.
- Car registration with current address.
- Checkbooks printed with current address.
- Paycheck stubs with current name and address.
- Mail delivered to your current address with a postmark on the envelope within the last 90 days.
You must have your IFPL card present to borrow items from the Library.
IFPL card holders can borrow up to 50 items total at a time. Limit of 10 DVDs at a time.
IFPL Temporary borrowers are limited to 2 items at a time per card.
- Books check-out for 3 weeks unless otherwise marked.
- Movies check-out for 1 week.
- IFPL does not charge late fines, but late materials must be renewed or turned in before checking out more.
- Patrons will still be charged for damaged or lost items.
If your card has the maximum number of items checked out, the items you return must be checked in before you ca check out more items.
IFPL items can be renewed up to 3 times… with a few exceptions. Renewals can be done in person, over the phone, or online at www.ifpl.org.
The Library can notify you via phone call, text message, or email as a courtesy reminder, but we ask you to keep your yellow receipt as a reminder of your due dates for your library materials.
Most items can be requested. Once we have notified you, holds are available to pick up for 5 days on the 2nd Floor.
In signing your Library card, you accept responsibility for all items checked out on that card. It is your duty to report the loss or theft of your card to Library staff as soon as possible in order to prevent unauthorized use of that card.
