Extreme Book Nerd for Kids 2024 @ Idaho Falls Public Library

Kids! Join us from January 2, 2024 to December 14, 2024 for our next round of this popular, year-long reading challenge! Extreme Book Nerd for Kids is a year-long reading challenge for independent readers, grades 1-6. Kids read 25 books aligned with specific reading categories to earn an exclusive Extreme Book Nerd for Kids prize.

Kids who aren’t quite ready to read 100 page books can do the challenge their way!

Extreme Book Nerd 2024

Extreme Book Nerd 2024 @ Idaho Falls Public Library

Join us for our next round of this popular, year-long reading challenge on January 4th! Teens read 25 books in specific categories; Adults read 50. Participants will have the option to sign up for Book Nerd Your Way, a challenge that doesn’t specify any reading categories. Those who finish the challenge will win an exclusive prize!

Be sure to record your titles in Beanstack before December 21, 2024.

Coding For Kids

Coding For Kids @ Idaho Falls Public Library

This next series of coding classes will run for 6 weeks and be held Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00-5:00pm on the second floor of the Idaho Falls Public Library.

Classes start Tuesday, May 29th, 2024 and end Saturday, July 6th, 2024.

Sign up to attend just one of the daily sessions, then attend each week on that day until the end of the course.*

Each daily session is limited to 10 students and is open to junior library patrons, ages 8-12.

Don’t wait to sign up! Spots fill up very quickly.

*Classes will not be held June 19th and July 4th.

**Come for a Special Event!**

On June 22nd, Robert Gay, the Education Curator and paleontologist at the Idaho Museum of Natural History will be at the Idaho Falls Public Library.

Come learn all about Idaho’s dinosaurs! Big and small, terrifying and tender, Idaho’s dinosaurs had it all.

Learn from a brief presentation about the ongoing research into the Cretaceous world of Idaho, and then get hands-on with both replica and original Idaho dinosaur fossils.

We’ll look at:

  • The caring parenting style of Idaho’s state dinosaur, Oryctodromeus
  • The new research about the enormous murder-chicken Gigantoraptor, and
  • The elusive other creatures that roamed the forests 100 million years ago.

Come curious, leave amazed!

Build futuristic robots, ingenious machines, and mechanical wonders. Create a robot helper or a simple machine, let your imagination engineer the future. Explore with technology and innovation!

  • Explore the endless possibilities of LEGO bricks and take part in engaging, hands-on learning.
  • Ignite your imagination with our fun monthly challenges that will keep you coming back.
