Family Winter Reading

Family Winter Reading @ Idaho Falls Public Library

Families with kids aged 0-12 can sign up for the annual Idaho Falls Public Library Family Winter Reading challenge! This challenge begins on Monday, November 27, 2023 and ends on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up online using an adult’s account at ifpl.beanstack.com or pick up a paper log at the Children’s desk starting Monday, November 27th. Limit one log per family.
  2. Read together as a family for 55 days. At least one adult and one child must read together.
  3. Earn a Family Prize of a board game of your choice that can be enjoyed by the whole family!

Heart Emotions Matching Game

Heart Emotions Matching Game @ Idaho Falls Public Library

Everybody feels sad, mad, and scared sometimes– even hearts!

During the month of February, pick up a pack of heart cards at the Children’s desk and match them to the faces on the hearts scattered around the Children’s area.

Then return to the desk to collect a sticker.

You can match the heart emotions each time you come into the library

Pop in and Play @ Idaho Falls Public Library

The Idaho Falls Public Library is excited to announce a new program, called “Pop in and Play”!


The next set of Pop In and Play will begin on January 9th.

There will be toys and activities for children to play with each time, as well as different themes to be rotated.

  • Date: Tuesday, January 9th – Time: 11am to 2pm
  • Date: Wednesday, January 24th – Time: 1pm to 4pm
  • Date: Tuesday, February 6th – Time: 11am to 2pm
  • Date: Wednesday, February 28th – Time: 3pm to 6pm
  • Date: Tuesday, March 5th – Time: 11am to 2pm
  • Date: Tuesday, March 19th – Time: 11am to 4pm

    Winter Reading for families with kids aged 0-12 ends February 29, 2024. Read 55 days together as a family—the day counts if at least one adult and one child read together—and win your choice of one of several family games on display in our children’s library.     Children’s Book Madness
    Mar 1 – Mar 30 all-day
    Children's Book Madness @ Idaho Falls Public Library

    Throughout the month of March, the Idaho Falls Public library will participate in March Madness! Kids can check out a book from the children’s department and ask at the children’s desk for a ballot. Limit one ballot per day.

    Use the ballot to vote for your favorite book in each bracket. Each week, we’ll count the ballots and advance the winning books to the next round. Copies of the losing books will be awarded as prizes through a weekly drawing.

    March’s Challenge: Space Exploration!

    Construct your own space station, alien landscape, or interstellar spacecraft. Design a new planet or a detailed lunar base. This out-of-this-world adventure is perfect for young astronauts!

    • Explore the endless possibilities of LEGO bricks and take part in engaging, hands-on learning.
    • Ignite your imagination with our fun monthly challenges that will keep you coming back.
